Brownfields – Provides information on the activities of the Brownfields Workgroup. Mainly, NEWMOA organizes training for a variety of priority topics determined by the states. Some of these training opportunities are open to the consulting community and others. In addition, NEWMOA organizes annual meetings between the New England state Brownfields programs and the EPA Region 1 Brownfields team to discuss programmatic issues.
Oil Spill Act Implementation – Provides information on NEWMOA's assistance to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MA DEP) with implementation of the recently enacted Oil Spill Prevention and Remediation Law. The law includes preventive measures addressing marine oil transport safety and provides funds to assist with planning, equipment, and training to protect sensitive coastal resource areas with rapid local response and improved coordination with existing federal and state response programs. NEWMOA provides MA DEP with administrative, technical, and staff support.
Improving Site Investigation - Provides information about NEWMOA's efforts focused on improving the quality of the site characterizations performed by consultants, including outreach materials and workshops: includes links to the Site Investigation Matters and Improving Site Investigation brochures.
Innovative Technology Advisory Opinions - Provides information about NEWMOA's efforts to promote the use of innovative site characterization methods, including links to the advisory opinions developed on four technologies: immunoassay; x-ray fluorescence; gas chromatography (GC) field analysis; and diffusion bag samples.
