Hazardous Waste EventsHazardous waste inspectors and other staff across the Northeast have a need for ongoing training on new requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures that EPA has developed. They are also interested in sharing information on state regulatory interpretations that may be important to their field activities. NEWMOA has developed advanced RCRA Training programs for state inspectors each year in consultation with state hazardous waste program managers and staff to cover these topics. The purpose of this training is to enhance the technical knowledge and programmatic skills of RCRA inspectors and policy and legal staff. NEWMOA convenes an annual states-EPA RCRA Training Workgroup to help design and plan one-day RCRA inspector workshops at two locations. NEWMOA also organizes regular RCRA web conferences or conference calls that cover topics that cannot be included in the workshops. The topics for these calls are also selected by the Workgroup. This effort is funded by EPA Region 1-New England from state hazardous waste assistance grant funds, awarded to NEWMOA at the request of member-state environmental agencies.
