Assistance & Pollution Prevention Projects

NEWMOA coordinates a variety of projects that address the priorities of the member states concerning environmental assistance and source reduction. The current projects focus on the following:

• Development and implementation of assistance and pollution prevention measurement tools and methods.

• Development of an Energy and Materials and Cost Tracking (EMFACT) software tool for small and medium-sized manufacturers and training on its implementation and use;

• Development and implementation of Common Measures for Environmental Performance (sometimes called Environmental Results Projects or ERP) for priority sectors in and outside of the region by state agencies;

• Coordination on integrating efforts for emerging chemical issues and priorities in the region;

• Coordination of Regional Marina Outreach & Assistance project;

• A & P2 Measurement – Provide descriptions of NEWMOA's efforts and available tools to support state agencies in their efforts to quantify and aggregate data on environmental assistance and pollution prevention accomplishments.

• Chemical Cleanout of Schools - Provides information on a workshop curriculum and presentation on how school officials can reduce and eliminate harmful chemicals found in science classrooms in K-12 schools.

• Common Measures – Provides information on the status of NEWMOA's Common Measures project and the participating states' efforts to implement these measures for priority sectors.

• EMFACT – Describes the EMFACT Project and the Project Advisory group; provides information on energy and materials tracking projects of other groups; and provides updates on the status of the EMFACT tool development and deployment.

• Regional Marina Project - Provides useful information on marina and boatyard outreach and assistance activities in the Northeast.
